Young Provision

Young People Provision

This programme was previously known as “R U ready…or Not Quite Yet”. Delay is about supporting young people to wait till they themselves are genuinely ready for sex, while also giving them information, skills and resources about condoms, contraception and negotiating safer sex. Research shows that many young people regret and don’t enjoy early sex. The approach offers ways of helping young people meet emotional needs though means other than sex – for example through supportive friendships. There is a lot of pressure on young people to be in relationships and/or to have sex. By focusing on the importance and benefits of friendships young people can feel positive about themselves and more confident in their peer group. These workshops focus around supporting young people in delaying early sex.
